A new oil discovery by Waha Oil Company Waha Oil Company reports that it has drilled the 6Q1-59 New
Field Wildcat well to a total depth of 9,227 feet. The well is located in Sirte Basin approximately 80 km South east of Marada Town.
The initial production testing from Lidam and Lower Beda established an oil flow as follows:

A new oil discovery by (LIA) & Medco NOC announced on 19/07/2010 that Libyan Investment
Authority (LIA) & Medco International Ventures Limited
being partners in an Exploration and Sharing agreement, report initial information concerning the exploration well N1-47/02 New Field Wildcat in Ghadamis Basin. The well is located approximately 200 km Southwest of Tripoli.
The well N1-47/02, drilled in Ghadamis Basin area 47 to a total depth 10,775 feet, encountered hydrocarbons in Memoniat and Lower Acacus.


The ESSL organised its monthly lecture meeting Last Monday July 5, 2010 the Earth Science Society of Libya
(ESSL) arranged a luncheon lecture which was delivered by a visiting lecturer Prof. Stephen Flint, Dean of Graduate Studies, University of Liverpool, UK.  This lecture was titled (Stratigraphic Prediction: a 21st Century tool in Exploration and Field Development).  On Thursday July 8, 2010 AGOCO Oil Company kindly sponsored this lecture and another titled (Structure and Stratigraphy of the Offshore Sirt – a seismic view & possible implications for the opening the Mediterranean) in Benghazi. The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Mark Shann, BP Libya Exploration.

  


Meeting with the Belarus Ambassador to Libya On Sunday, 04/07/2010 Dr. Shokri Ghanem, NOC’s
Chairman met with Mr. Anatoly Stibus the Belarus Ambassador and Mr. Jraijuri Jrohmeyko economic adviser to the Belarus embassy.
During the meeting both parties discussed relations between the two countries in the field of oil and gas and ways to strengthen, and touched Ambassador to the possibility of establishing investment projects in his the country, and also touched upon his country's desire to obtain quantities of Libyan crude oil.

In a press release to the NOC” website , the efforts of BP.oil company to control
the oil of the disaster that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico, and the extent of its impacts on the company's operations in general and activity in Libya in particular.
Dr. Shokri Ghanem said the companies drill depths of more than two thousand meters under the sea this a new activity and of course any new activity has effects, therefore, these incidents often get in the activities of oil and the Gulf of Mexico is a regrettable incident , but should not stand obstacle to scientific progress and humanitarian
We agreed to continue work with BP Oil Company in Libya and discussed this matter with the BP’s Chairman Company in our met with him, and also the event and detailed explanation and efforts by the company to control the disaster.

Meeting with the Indonesian and Pakistani ambassadors to Libya
On Thursday 10/06/2010 Dr.Shokri Ghanem , NOC’s Chairman metImage with Mr. Sanuusi the Indonesian ambassador to Libya.
During the meeting both parties discussed the activities of the Indonesia companies in Libya and the ways of promoting the special relations between both countries in the field of oil and gas .
Dr.Shokri assured that the door is open for Indonesian companies to work in the oil and gas sector in Libya
also meeting on the other hand Dr.Shokri met with Mr. Jamal Ahmed Khan, Islamic  Pakistani ambassador to Libya.

BP has spent one billion and 250 million dollars for the control of the oil spill
News Agencies... British oil group BP said On Monday that itImage has spent one billion and 250 million dollars so far in trying to control the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Last Saturday the company was able to withdraw ten thousand and 500 barrels, after the introduction of the new mechanism to reduce the oil spill.
The company said in a statement it has withdrawn between the third and fifth of June about 16 thousand and 600 barrels of oil, after the introduction of a new methods.

Dr. Shokri Ghanem: The production quotas is likely to remain unchanged
ImageThe production quotas is Expected to remain unchanged at the next meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries "OPEC" in October.
A statement made by Dr. Shokri Ghanem, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation to The Dow Jones news agency.
Dr. Ghanem said in a telephone conversation with the agency that up to date OPEC can not take any action ... prices reached 87 dollars per barrel and then fell to 67 dollars a barrel, then returned to the level of 70 dollars .. So we can say that the market is volatile in prices and must therefore wait to see whether this curve is real or not.
